Why would anyone Reject their
Maker?
The simple answer is because men and women are perverted by their own sinfulness, selfishness, pompous arrogance and foolishness. And as a result, they willingly choose to be their own God, or master of their lives: and in so doing they (choose to) deny the very existence of anyone who might be greater than them: including the One who made them. In other words, they don't want to submit their lives to God, and as a result they have to deny that He exists -- and cling to preposterous notions of how they came to be: i.e. that nobody (of significance) made them: other than chance mistakes, time and nature's (purported) ability to "select" so as to mimic intelligence and foresight: or to do what engineers and programmers do when building complex things.
The following Scriptures also shed light on this subject.
"The fool has said in his heart, there is no God." Psalm 10:4 and 53:1
"At that time Jesus answered and said, 'I praise Thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that Thou didst hide these things from the wise and intelligent and didst reveal them to little children." Matt. 11:25
"Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, 'Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us, and not to the world?' "Jesus answered and said, ... 'If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him." John 14:22-23
"Who understands to power of Thine anger and Thy fury according to the fear that is due Thee?" Psalm 90:11
"Therefore, listen to me ... Far be it from God to do wickedness, And from the Almighty to do wrong. For He pays a man according to His work, and makes him find it according to his way. Surely, God will not ... pervert justice. ... If He should determine to do so, If He should gather to Himself His spirit and His breath, All flesh would perish together, and man would return to dust." Job 34:10-12, 14
"Behold, the storm of the LORD has gone forth in wrath, Even a whirling tempest; It will swirl down on the head of the wicked. The anger of the LORD will not turn back until He has performed and carried out the purposes of His heart; In the last days you will clearly understand it. I did not send these prophets, but they ran, I did not speak to them, but they prophesied. But if they had stood in My council, then they would have announced My words to My people, and would have turned them back from their evil way and from the evil of their deeds." Jer. 23:19-22
"Am I a God who is near declared the LORD, and not a God far off? 'Can a man hide himself in hiding places, So I do not see him?' declares the LORD. 'Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?' ..." Jer. 23:23-24
"Why are the nations in an uproar, and the peoples devising a vain thing? The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers take counsel together against the LORD and against His Anointed; Let us tear their fetters apart and cast away their cords from us!" Psalm 2:1-3
"He who sits in the heavens laughs, The LORD scoffs at them. Then He will speak to them in His anger and terrify them in His fury; But as for Me, I have installed My King upon Zion, My holy mountain." "I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, 'Thou art My Son, Today I have begotten Thee. 'Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Thine inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron, Thou shalt shatter them like earthenware.'" Psalm 2:4-9
"Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth. Worship the LORD with reverence, rejoice with trembling. Do homage to the Son, lest He become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all those who take refuge in Him!" Psalm 2:10-12
"But these enemies of Mine, who did not want me to reign over them; bring them here and slay them in my presence." Luke 19:27
"He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who practices the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God." John 3:18-21
"I said therefore to you, that you shall die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins." John 8:24
"Now ... there were some present who reported to Him about the Galileans, whose blood Pilate ... mingled with ... sacrifices. And He answered and said ... 'Do you suppose ... these Galileans were greater sinners than all other Galileans because they suffered this fate?' I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you shall all likewise perish. Or do you suppose that those eighteen on whom the tower of Siloam fell and killed them, were worse culprits than all the men who live in Jerusalem? "I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish." Luke 13:1-5
"For the word of the cross is to those who are perishing foolishness, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, 'I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the cleverness of the clever I will set aside.'"
"Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? I Cor. 1:18-21
"For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. ... Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For consider you calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and ... the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, ... God has chosen the things that are not, that He might nullify the things that are, that no man should boast before God." I Cor. 1:25-29
