God: The Great Cosmic Killer of Fun
Unfortunately, many people today have the opinion that our Creator is some sort of Cosmic Killer of Joy, and that submitting their lives to Him will only make them miserable.Well in my opinion, nothing could be further from the truth. And I say that even though, at present I am not married and haven't taken a real vacation in years. But I do have a Deep Peace that I never knew anything about until after I gave my life to Jesus over 27 years ago. And I can say firsthand that God can change a shy, unspontaneous introvert into an outgoing spontaneous extrovert. I also can also say that God is able to give you the ability to fully enjoy the life that He has given to us; however, I unless we submit ourselves to Him, and His will for us, we will never experience the joy that He has planned for us. I can also say, firsthand that their is an invisible Spirit Being who guides the Christian who is seeking to do God's will: who actually indwells each and every believer -- and whose very presence can (literally) be "felt." Eph. 1:13-14; John 14:16-24; 16:13-14.
For it is God who invented our bodies, and Taste Buds, and Food, and Sex, and the bacteria that turns grape juice into wine. And it is He who creates every beautiful sunset, and Who also created the very Earth we live in. And He did so for us, and for His glory, even though many people today don't even acknowledge Him, and want nothing to do with Him or His Son, or His people.
And while I may not be the happiest person on the planet, I can say that I am a much more happy and fulfilled person today that what I was before I came to know The Creator in a Personal way.
I also can say that the happiest people I know are those who know God in a Personal way, and who are also serving Him in some way with their Time, Talents, and/or their Money.
I can also say that we are promised even greater joys and pleasures in the life to come (I Pet. 2:5-7; Psalm 16:11; Jer. 31:22): that is IF we come to Know God personally in this Life (Matt. 7:21-24) -- through faith in what His Son, Jesus, did for us on the Cross (Eph. 1:7; I Pet. 2:24). For that is why Jesus came down to Earth in the first place: i.e. to give His life so that He might pay our way into God's Eternal Kingdom (John 10:10-11; John 17:3; Acts. 4:12; Rom. 6:23; I John 3:8). And He did it because of His Great Love for us (who believe in Jesus and His Power to save us, and Love Him enough to make Him our Lord) Rom. 8:28-39; John 3:16, 36; I John 4:7-21.
